A high chair, a laundry pile, and an answered prayer: When the right thing leads you to the answered prayer

Funny story. My husband and I recently argued over my throwing away the baby’s high chair table attachment.
His birthday is coming up and we have to have that piece even though he rarely uses the high chair. He has to have it for his smash cake.
And lately as laundry and dishes pile up, I get bursts of angry cleaning where I see red until I throw things away. I mean straight up purging closets cleaning.
I remembered picking up the attachment that mind you was not anywhere near the high chair.
I thought I remembered with my partially photographic memory throwing the thing away.
We turned the house upside down in areas we might have placed it. No luck.
So I have ordered a replacement piece that is supposed to be universal and a new high chair.
I told my husband don’t you throw that high chair away because now I’m sure we will find that piece.
While doing laundry, I uncovered the sinister high chair table attachment, much to my amusement.
After soliciting an apology from my half asleep husband and myself for being so angry about the item I was sure I tossed, I smiled.
What a picture of purpose. What a lesson God taught me through my frustration.
Do the simple things.
Yes, tackle the mundane things that feel endless and meaningless and when you do the necessary ordinary things you should be doing, you find what you were searching for all along.
I asked him days ago to help me find this like to help me visualize. He let me find it for myself.
And then I’m convicted about the laundry! Thanks, God! I’ll do better!
But really, we should do the simple things. There is value in that.
There is a scripture about being faithful in the little things and how valuable that really is. And boy it’s a good one.
Here it is:
Luke 16:10 - If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities.
So, next time you’re stressing about something, go back to the simple little things. And for mercy’s sake, check the piles of laundry!
