I spent years
Hating my body,
Hiding its curves
To align with conservative modesty.
And all that time
I spent starving and hating my shape
Was a waste.
God created this body in all her beauty
And all of her imperfections.
So I vow to love her,
To clothe her with care
And to never again be ashamed of her.
As I look in the mirror
I see a resilient warrior, a child of the King,
I see beauty that He made within the frame.
And I understand
Maybe modesty isn't hiding my body
It's celebrating her
And displaying her with class.
Confidence makes her beautiful.
And attitude makes her name
A pleasure or a pain.
So I'll walk with confidence in who I was made to be,
And I understand now
Modesty isn't confined to a two piece
Modesty isn't skirts and dresses that fall below the knee.
It's an outward display
Of an inward truth.
For we are His workmanship,
Each of us a beautiful masterpiece.
