“Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10 (NIV)
Where do you go when you don’t know where to go?
You can go online or to a trusted mentor or friend. Or you can go somewhere else.
For me, I like to get alone and be quiet. Maybe go for some comfort food. Starches? Yes! Carbs! What else?
And the most important part is being quiet. And being with God.
I should do more of that.
Not just when I’m overwhelmed.
If you look around there’s a lot to be alarmed or overwhelmed about: our angsty political climate characterized by shouting and name calling, the rise of artificial intelligence and all the joys and challenges that brings and add a layer of personal life struggles and your cup is filled with anxiety.
Sorry if that paragraph brought it on. I really should invest in an editor. But I have AI now… so… you’re welcome.
But I think we all should do ourselves a favor and get alone. A lot. Not just by ourselves, but with the Master of the Universe.
Because when He speaks, there’s no question. He knows you intimately and He will place things in your way and speak in ways you cannot deny or anyone else can orchestrate.
And when He speaks, you’d better be listening. I want to be at least. So, here I am in a booth being quiet, logging off and listening. Will you join me?
Matthew 11:28–29 (NIV)
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”
