Don’t lose your voice: Stewarding God’s gift in a world of manufactured words

I recently spoke to a high school journalism/yearbook class about the industry and how artificial intelligence has changed everything. From editing news stories and writing headlines to writing full on press releases for PR practitioners like me, AI is here and it’s here to stay. Over the last few years, AI has truly been integrated into the fabric of our everyday lives from a Google search result to suggesting recipes and articulating ideas, I challenged students to use AI as a thought partner but not to rely on it.

I must admit as a communications department of one I often lean on AI for several things and tasks. It’s really like my own little assistant. And honestly my journalism wired part of my brain sometimes dukes it out with my PR rushed brain that takes what AI spits out and runs with it.

And then a thought came. And it felt like a comment from my Heavenly Father. The thought was to continue letting my district have a voice. Don’t let it lose its voice through AI. Meaning my voice.

What a thought.

“Don’t lose your voice.”

In a world of confusion and manufactured words and ideas, don’t lose the unique voice and way of expression God has gifted you with.

So I challenge you and myself to remember how valuable the work is God has for us.

Our vocation is merely a location He has for us to do His work of loving people and pointing them to heaven through Jesus.

So, let’s make the most of it and use our gifts, talents, uniqueness and voice to glorify God and impact this world.

This world needs what God has given us.

Ironically enough, below is AI generated thoughts and a list of Bible verses to drive this blog home!

I hope this blesses you today!

ChatGPT says:

God-Given Voice & Calling

Jeremiah 1:9 (NIV)

“Then the Lord reached out his hand and touched my mouth and said to me, ‘I have put my words in your mouth.’”

(God Himself equips us with a unique voice and message.)

1 Peter 4:10–11 (NIV)

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms… If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God.”

(Your voice is a gift meant to serve and glorify Him.)

Uniqueness & Boldness

Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

(Your unique talents, perspective, and words are part of His design.)

2 Timothy 1:7 (NIV)

“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.”

(Don’t shrink back—speak with courage and conviction.)

Purpose in Our Work

Colossians 3:23–24 (NIV)

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters… It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”

(Your vocation is the location God is using to accomplish His eternal work.)

Matthew 5:14–16 (NIV)

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden… let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

(Your voice, your work, your light—they point others to Him.)

✅ These scriptures affirm the thought: AI may assist, but it can’t replace the God-given voice, creativity, and calling within you.
