Slow down and accept the invitation: Lessons our children teach us everyday

I saw this quote recently and loved it so much I  actually made it my cover photo.

It says “Every day our children invite us to slow down. Accept the invitation.”

That will preach!

I often feel like I’m living in fast forward like Kenny Chesney’s hit song.

Between diapers and deadlines, this girl is ready to unwind at the end of a long day’s work.

But that quote is everything if you think about it.

How often do we rush?

How often to we wish time would fly by so we can accomplish a new task or put a dreaded event or presentation behind us?

Then come those precious moments.

Those sticky fingers and wet kisses.

Our children seem to tug on our heartstrings without saying a word.

When we hold them tight time stands still.

And we realize what life is really about.

So next time your kid or any kid approaches you and asks for a little time or attention, accept the invitation.

You’ll never regret that you did.
