This Generation of Moms Gets It

This generation of young moms really inspires me, not because I’m among them, but because I get to journey with them.

I think what makes this generation stand out is that we aren’t afraid to show our scars, our physical and emotional scars. Yet, we acknowledge these scars were absolutely worth it because of our babies.

When I had my child I was thrust into this whole new world with big emotions and a small person with BIG needs, as all mothers are.

I was depressed and anxious. And I didn’t know what to do with it but pray, blog, talk about it and ask other moms “hey, is this normal?” They responded and affirmed me, even sharing their stories which I’ll forever be grateful for. It turns out that postpartum depression, anxiety and even rage are pretty common experiences among young mothers.

How in the world are we supposed to suppress all those big emotions? How did our grandmothers do it?

I am so amazed and how freeing it is to look around and know I am in a generation of young moms who collaborate, share and pray with each other. And we aren’t afraid of the mess of motherhood.

And that’s the beauty of it all—this generation of moms is choosing truth over pretense, connection over comparison, and grace over guilt. We may not have it all figured out, but we’re not walking alone. And somehow, in the middle of the mess, we’re finding meaning, healing, and the power of encouraging each other.

(Last paragraph beautifully summed up by ChatGPT).
