This moment

Life changes in an instant.

Two pink lines.

Nausea. Weird body changes.

Then comes labor.

Tons of strangers in scrubs crowded around you in a room yelling for you to push harder.

It takes hours.

You wonder if you’ll make it.

Time stands still.

Then you hear the cry.

They lay the baby on your chest.

And you know nothing will ever compare to this moment. The pain was worth it. And you look at this little life and wonder how you could be so lucky and how in the heck you could love someone so much you just met.

Then the diapers and all nighters.

They say this phase won’t last long. Part of me wishes it were easier.

But the other part is soaking it in.

Because life can change in an instant.

And this moment is the most important moment of all.
